Sean Paul Peres, 30, of 72 Highland Ave., was charged with breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, assault with a dangerous weapon, knife, threat to commit a crime, larceny under $250 and two counts of violation of a city knife ordinance. Peres was arraigned Thursday at Lynn District Court by Judge Joseph Jennings and was ordered held in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 10. Lynn police were contacted by a victim regarding a breaking and entering into a motor vehicle on Goodridge Street around 8 p.m. The victim was chasing after Peres, who allegedly assaulted the victim with a knife after he found Peres breaking into his vehicle, a Honda Ridgeway. Police located Peres running by Chestnut Street and exited their cruiser with a weapon drawn, ordering Peres to the ground. The victim, who was running approximately 30 feet behind the victim, yelled to police, "He just pulled a knife on me" as Peres was handcuffed and patted down. Police found a black folding knife, approximately five inches in length, in Peres' right front pants pocket, along with four $1 bills and cigarettes. When asked if he had any other weapons, Peres said he had another knife in his backpack, which was silver and black and about six inches. A portable GPS system was also found, along with a Coach pocketbook, which was empty, a Dooney & Bourke wallet, two American Express prepaid gift cards, a Nextel cellular phone and $1.28. The victim said he had been sitting in the grass in front of English High School, watching his daughter's cheerleading practice, when he saw Peres allegedly standing next to his vehicle. The door was open at that point and the victim said he approached Peres and said, "What are you doing in my car?" Peres then began to walk away toward Chestnut Street and the victim continued to follow him. Peres then allegedly turned around, pulled out a knife and said, "Get away from me or I'll cut you." At that point, the victim said Peres began walking away again and he called the police, giving a description of the suspect. When he went back to his vehicle, the victim said he noticed that he was missing money and his daughter's belongings, which had been in the backseat. He then chased after Peres.
