| Credit card stolen from Berea used in Richmond Posted: 25 Sep 2010 09:12 AM PDT Register News Writer Register News Writer Sat Sep 25, 2010, 12:00 PM EDT RICHMOND — A woman's credit card, reported stolen from a Berea restaurant, allegedly was used at two Richmond businesses. The woman told police her credit card had been stolen Sept. 16, and that it had been used in Richmond the same day, said Larry Brock, Richmond Police Chief. The card was used at Big Lots on two occasions to purchase $643 worth of merchandise, and also two more times at Radio Shack to purchase $435 worth of merchandise, he said. "The suspects who used the stolen card were described as black females in their 20s, both with braided hair, and one with gold lower teeth. One of the suspects was dressed in what appeared to be an all-blue work uniform with an oval name tag on the front," Brock said. The other woman was described as dressed in all black, and wearing a T-shirt which had large, white writing on the front. The women allegedly purchased 11 Nintendo Wii games, a Hewlett Packard Netbook computer, a Boost Mobile BB 8830 prepaid cell phone, two Magellan global positioning units, and a $250 gift certificate. The total value of the items is $1,078. Felony theft A resident of the 400 block of North Street told police that a Dell Inspirion laptop had been stolen from his residence on Sept. 17. An investigation by Officer Chip Gray determined that Brandon Woods, 24, no permanent address, of Richmond had stolen the computer, Brock said. He also said that several attempts to recovered the computer from Woods were unsuccessful. On Sept. 18, officers located Woods on Mayde Road in Berea, where he attempted to flee, but, Brock said, was arrested without incident. He was charged with theft by unlawful taking over $500, a Class D felony. He is being held in the Madison County Detention Center on a $1,000 cash bond. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison. Other crimes: • A woman told police that during the morning of Sept. 22, her Aeropostale messenger bag was stolen from a 2002 Ford Taurus. The bag contained two textbooks, "Black Experience in America," and "The St. Martin's Handbook," as well as a bottle of 10 milligram Maxalt pills (a migraine medicine) and a black Nintendo DSi. The total value of the items reported stolen is $389. • A resident of the 400 block of Jason Drive told police someone had broken into his apartment between 7 and 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and had stolen a Vizio 32-inch flat screen TV, serial number LUKEAAK1203762, and an Ace laptop computer an XBox game system. The items are valued at a total of $949. • Sometime overnight Sept. 19, a Dooney & Bourke wallet with Mickey Mouse silhouette on it was stolen from a car parked in the 700 block of Amber Hill Court. The wallet contained $30 cash, various forms of personal identification, as well as three tickets to Walt Disney World. • A 30-count bottle of Flexeril was reported stolen from a 1984 Cutlass Supreme between 10:30 and 10:40 p.m. Tuesday while the car was parked in the 400 block of Frances Street. • A woman, described as in her 50s, with gray hair, wearing a light blue shirt and jeans, allegedly entered the University Shell in the 600 block of Eastern Bypass at about 8 p.m. Tuesday and asked the clerk for four $20 bills, and handed him six $10 bills, three $5 bills and five $1 bills. The clerk gave her the money, and according to a police report, she turned to walk out the door, stuck one of the $20 bills in her front pocket, and then told the clerk he'd handed her only three $20 bills. He gave her another $20 bill, the report said, thereby giving her a total of five $20 bills. • A resident of the 600 block of Big Hill Avenue told police that her green Sanyo SCP-2700 cell phone was stolen that morning. The phone is valued at $165. • A resident of Blackwell Court told police that a pink Sony digital camera, model W-120, had been stolen from his vehicle sometime Sept. 18. The phone is valued at $230. • Sometime between Sept. 13 and Sept. 20, a Army Combat Uniform military body armor, two pairs of Army Combat uniforms, one set of Army Combat uniform rain gear, an Army Combat uniform helmet and one pair of tan combat boots were stolen from an unidentified vehicle parked on Parrish Avenue. The items are valued at a total of $1,215. Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to call the department at 623-8911 or 623-1162.
