“Counterfeit goods criminal case continued” |
| Counterfeit goods criminal case continued Posted: 04 Jun 2010 08:44 AM PDT The case of a man charged with possessing counterfeit trademarked goods was continued until July 9. Joseph Peter Viola, 52, was arrested in April on charges of one felony count of possession of a counterfeit trademark and one felony count of criminal use of a counterfeit trademark. The goods seized at It's All in the Bag, in Hendersonville and Forest City, included what are believed to be counterfeit Coach, Chanel and Dooney & Bourke handbags. The merchandise had an estimated retail value of more than $68,000. Investigators have said they believe Viola, of Rutherfordton, was buying fake designer labels and placing them on the handbags. Authorities with the North Carolina Secretary of State's office worked with local law enforcement in making the arrest in the case. All rights reserved.
